榛名山（榛名富士）を背景に、湖面に一艘の帆船が浮かぶ情緒豊かな構図が特徴です。この作品には色彩の異なるバリエーションが存在することでも知られ、山々が鮮やかな茶褐色に染まった秋の情景を描いた版と、戦時中に出版されたと言われる深緑が美しい版があり、季節や光の加減によって全く異なる表情を見せる自然の奥深さを伝えています。特に湖面に映る山の影や、繊細なグラデーションで表現された水の質感は、版画とは思えないほどの奥行きと透明感を感じさせ、見る者をその場に立っているかのような感覚に誘います。

Set against the backdrop of Mount Haruna (also known as Haruna Fuji), the composition is marked by a poetic scene in which a single sailing boat drifts upon the surface of the lake. This work is also well known for the existence of color variations. One version depicts an autumn landscape in which the surrounding mountains are rendered in vivid brownish hues, while another version—said to have been published during the wartime period—features deep, beautiful greens. Through these differing palettes, the print conveys the profound richness of nature, revealing entirely different expressions depending on the season and the quality of light.
In particular, the reflections of the mountains on the lake’s surface and the texture of the water, expressed through delicate gradations of color, create a sense of depth and clarity so striking that it scarcely feels like a woodblock print. The viewer is drawn into the scene, as if standing at the water’s edge and experiencing the landscape firsthand.
