ストーリー
犬はいつも怒ったような顔をしていた。それは生まれつきのもので、別に怒りは感じていなかった。彼を世話する人間は、冗談半分で彼に「マグマ」という名前をつけた。「マグマのように怒る犬」がいるというのは、人間の中でちょっとした話題になった。ある日、人間はペットに身分証明書を交付することにした。それは賛否両論を呼び、人々の議論の的だった。ある日、ペットの権利を守る弁護士を名乗る人間が家にやってきた。「身分証明書には、犬であること以外に、非常にセンシティブな内容を記入する欄がある。あなたの犬はそれに怒っているのではないですか？」弁護士は飼い主にそういうと、届いたばかりの犬の身分証明書の「種」と「名前」以外の欄に乱暴に線を引いた。彼はかなり怒っているようだった。マグマは、その弁護士が持ってきたおやつを、すこし怯えながら受け取った。

ディレクターコメント
人間の周囲の生き物と人間の関係を主なモチーフとして、シルクスクリーンやドローイング作品を制作している市川。ユーモアに富んだ作品は単なる風刺画ではなく、現代に生きる我々人間の矛盾や滑稽さがある種の慈しみを持って描きだされている。人間に翻弄される生き物たちに対して生まれる奇妙な笑いとすこしの罪悪感、そしてそこに確かにある愛情。メディアとして用いられた版画に隠されたメッセージを読み解くのも面白い。
Story
The dog always looked as if it was angry. It was something he was born with, and he didn't feel angry at all. His owner jokingly gave him the name "Magma". The rumor that there is a "dog as angry as Magma" became a bit of a hot topic among the humans.
One day, the humans decided to issue identification cards to their pets. It was a controversial decision and a point of debate among people. One day, a person claiming to be a lawyer for pet rights came to the owner's house and said, "On his ID card, besides the fact that he is a dog, there's a field for you to fill in some very sensitive information. Your dog is upset about that, isn't he?" The lawyer said to the owner and roughly and emotionally drew a line through all the fields except for "species" and "name" on the dog's identification card that had just arrived. He seemed to be quite angry. Magma accepted the treat that the lawyer had brought with a bit of trepidation.
