作家コメント
2022年に春風社から出版されたエッセイ集「わたしの学術書」ー博士論文書籍化をめぐってーの装画として制作したアクリル画「心の旅」を、シルクスクリーンで制作し直した作品です。
学術書を読む時に覚える、豊かな知識の海を潜っていくような心地よい感覚を思い出しながら。思いがけない発見は、案外リラックスした、日常から一歩外に踏み出したときに得られるものと思っています。
ディレクターコメント
人間の周囲の生き物と人間の関係を主なモチーフとして、シルクスクリーンやドローイング作品を制作している市川。ユーモアに富んだ作品は単なる風刺画ではなく、現代に生きる我々人間の矛盾や滑稽さがある種の慈しみを持って描きだされている。人間に翻弄される生き物たちに対して生まれる奇妙な笑いとすこしの罪悪感、そしてそこに確かにある愛情。メディアとして用いられた版画に隠されたメッセージを読み解くのも面白い。

This artwork is a reproduction using the silkscreen technique of the acrylic painting "Journey of the Soul" that was created for the book "わたしの学術書" -博士論文書籍化をめぐって-, a collection of essays published by Shumpu-Sha in 2022.
I recall the pleasant and warm feeling I get when reading an academic book, like diving into a sea of rich knowledge. I believe that unexpected discoveries can be made when you step out of your daily routine in a relaxed and unexpected way.
Gallery Commentary
Shiori Ichikawa is an artist who creates silkscreen and drawing works using the relationship between humans and the creatures around us as her main motif. Her humorous works are not mere caricatures but rather depict the contradictions and ridiculousness of our modern life with a kind of compassion. The strange laughter, a little bit of guilt, and a particular love for the creatures at the mercy of humans. It is interesting to decipher the messages hidden in the prints used as a medium.
