何か言いたげな表情で本をめくるミミズ。善悪の判断というのは、時代や文化によって変化するものだ。全ての生き物が良く生きるために、共通する倫理とは一体どんなものだろう。
人間の周囲の生き物と人間の関係を主なモチーフとして、シルクスクリーンやドローイング作品を制作している市川。ユーモアに富んだ作品は単なる風刺画ではなく、現代に生きる我々人間の矛盾や滑稽さがある種の慈しみを持って描きだされている。人間に翻弄される生き物たちに対して生まれる奇妙な笑いとすこしの罪悪感、そしてそこに確かにある愛情。メディアとして用いられた版画に隠されたメッセージを読み解くのも面白い。

Gallery Commentary
A worm flips through a book with a look of wanting to say something. The judgment of right and wrong changes with time and culture. What kind of ethics is common to all living creatures to live well?
Ichikawa Shiori is an artist who creates silkscreen and drawing works using the relationship between humans and the creatures around us as her main motif. Her humorous works are not mere caricatures but rather depict the contradictions and ridiculousness of our modern life with a kind of compassion. The strange laughter, a little bit of guilt, and a particular love for the creatures at the mercy of humans. It is interesting to decipher the messages hidden in the prints used as a medium.
