金 知慧（キム ジヘ）の作品は、写真のイメージから始まる。金が直接撮った、あるいは家族の昔のフィルム写真アルバムから「私の中の何か」に触れる写真を探し、それをもとにスケッチをして、メゾチントを中心とした銅版画技法で制作している。金は作品について「 銅版画に刻んだ私の記録 」 という説明をするが、ここで言う記録は「日記」に近い。これらの作品は極めて個人的な場面で始まっており、自己告白の性向がある。 それは「懐かしさ」なのか、「愛」なのか、「憐憫」なのか、それともまた別の何かなのか。正確に一つの単語で表現できない記憶や感情が渦巻いている。そして作品を鑑賞する私達の感情も大きく揺さぶられる。

Kim Jihye's artworks are based on photographic images. Kim searches for photographs that touch "something in me" from her own photographs or from her family's old film photo albums. She makes sketches based on them and creates her works using mezzotint and other copper-printing techniques.
She describes her work as "a record of me engraved in prints," and what she means by "record" here seems more like a "diary" to her. This may be because the work begins with a very personal scene and has a tendency toward self-confession. However, when we look at her works, we certainly feel a universal sensation that touches the deepest feelings of many people. Is it nostalgia, love, pity, or something else? Memories and emotions that cannot be expressed in a single word are swirling around.
