佐藤忠信は藤原秀衡に仕えていたが、義経が頼朝の平家討伐に合流する際に藤原秀衡に命じられて共に源頼朝の下に参じた。
義経は平家打倒の宿願を果たしたが、その後頼朝と決別。義経のための囮となった佐藤忠信は、ひとり吉野から京都へと戻り、敵方の兵に囲まれ自害したと伝えられる。
本作品では佐藤忠信が義経一行を追おうとする吉野の僧兵を成敗しようと、日本刀を抜いて静かに待ち伏せしている様子が描かれている。
豊宣は、二代目歌川国久の長男であり、武者絵を多く制作した。

Sato Tadanobu was a retainer of Fujiwara no Hidehira and cooperated with Yoshitsune when Yositsune departed to the battle against Taira cran, for Yoritomo. Although Yoshitsune carried out the order of Yoritomo, their relationship went sour, and Yoritomo pursued Yoshitsune.
In this artwork, the famous scene of escape from Yoshino Mountain is depicted.
Tadanobu pretended as Yoshitsune and fight against Yokokawa no Kakuhan, on the right, and let escape Yoshitsune.
Toyonobu is the son of KunihisaⅡ and created various warrior prints.
