This curious river that is divided into 2 parts is the Chikugo River in Fukuoka prefecture.
The bank in the middle of the river is built for the fishing trap which is depicted on the middle-right of this image. Fishermen drove fishes into this trap.
The right part of the river was for the passing boats.
